Q1 Earnings Surpass Expectations
MILAN, May 7 (Reuters) - Italian financial conglomerate Poste Italiane raised its outlook for the year on Thursday after reporting better-than-expected first-quarter earnings.
Diversified Business Segments
Poste, which has businesses spanning from mail and parcels to financial, energy and mobile services, added its buyout offer for phone monopoly Telecom Italia was on track.
Upcoming Strategic Plan
Poste will present a new strategic plan on July 24.
Financial Highlights
In the three months to March 31, earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) adjusted to exclude extraordinary items came in at 905 million euros, up 14% year-on-year and above a company-provided analyst consensus of 861 million euros.
Upgraded Full-Year Guidance
Poste said it now expects its full-year adjusted EBIT at 3.4 billion euros, above 3.3 billion euros previously.
