RTL beats revenue view, streaming turns profitable
RTL Group Reports Strong Q1 Results and Streaming Profitability
May 13 (Reuters) - European broadcaster RTL Group on Wednesday reported first-quarter revenue slightly above expectations and said its streaming business made a profit for the first time, while confirming its outlook for the year.
Financial Performance Overview
Revenue rose to 1.3 billion euros ($1.53 billion), ahead of a company-provided consensus estimate of 1.28 billion euros. The broadcaster kept its 2026 guidance for streaming profit of 25 million to 50 million euros and full-year total profit of about 725 million euros.
Streaming Business Achieves Profitability
"The first three months of 2026 marked the first profitable quarter of our streaming business," CEO Clément Schwebig said in a statement.
Leadership Changes and Strategic Focus
RTL said on Tuesday that Schwebig had been formally appointed chief executive and that Alexander Von Torklus would become chief financial officer from July 2026, as the group pushes to build its streaming business while managing pressure on traditional broadcasting.
