Aumovio Confirms 2026 Profitability Outlook Despite Weak Auto Market

Third-Quarter Performance and Strategic Outlook

Nov 5 (Reuters) - German automotive supplier Aumovio reported better third-quarter profitability and reaffirmed its annual forecast on Thursday, as cost-cutting and efficiency measures helped offset weaker car production and negative currency effects.

Resilience Amid Industry Challenges

The outlook confirmation signals Aumovio's confidence that it can weather a deep downturn in Europe's auto industry, as weak demand for new cars, sluggish electric vehicle adoption and fierce competition from Chinese brands force local automakers and their suppliers to cut jobs, close plants and rein in spending.

Focus on Efficiency and Discipline

The company remains "highly disciplined and focused on efficiency" as it works to meet targets in a challenging environment, CEO Philipp von Hirschheydt said.

Financial Performance Highlights

Aumovio, which spun off from Continental in 2025, said its adjusted operating profit margin was 3.5% in the third quarter, compared with 3.4% a year ago. Analysts polled by Vara had expected an average margin of 3.1%.

Industry Context and Analyst Insights

Supplier results have generally held up better than those of some automakers, including Volkswagen, as they restructure product portfolios to align with electrification and digitization, ING senior economist Rico Luman said ahead of Aumovio's results.
