BUCHAREST (Reuters) -German arms maker Rheinmetall is in talks with a Romanian state company over a possible joint venture for an ammunition factory, Romania's President Nicusor Dan said on Friday.

"At this moment there are advanced negotiations between Rheinmetall and the Medias factory for a joint venture on munitions," he said in a news conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz after the two met in Berlin.

"We hope these negotiations will end in the shortest time possible," he added, without giving further details.
