It’s good news for job hunters looking for their next venture in the accounting industry this spring, as vacancies increased by an impressive 13.6% last month, suggesting that business confidence is remaining high in the sector. This is according to the UK’s leading independent job board, CV-Library, which compared its data from March 2017 with February 2017.

The study analysed job market activity across the UK, revealing that applications for accounting roles rose by a steady 15.6% during this period, showcasing the positive candidate appetite that exists in the sector.

Furthermore, the data from CV-Library reveals that accounting was one of the top 10 industries where job numbers are rapidly rising:

    1. Charity (35.4%)
    2. Catering (31.8%)
    3. Hospitality (31.4%)
    4. Automotive (20.9%)
    5. Education (19.9%)
    6. Social care (18.7%)
    7. Legal (17.5%)
    8. Construction (15.9%)
    9. Accounting (13.6%)
    10. Retail (12.7%)

Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of CV-Library, comments: “It’s great to see that business confidence is keeping strong in the accounting industry and the promising rise in job numbers is particularly good news for candidates looking for new opportunities. With spring now upon us, this could be the perfect time to freshen up your career.”

Furthermore, salaries in the accounting sector witnessed hikes year-on-year, rising by a strong 4.9%. Despite this, there was a decline in salaries month-on-month, as they dropped by 1%, yet this has clearly not deterred the very active candidate base in the industry.

Biggins concludes: “It’s clear that the sector’s job market is staying strong, and this is particularly important now Brexit negotiations are officially underway. For those looking to take the next step in their career, the accounting industry could be the key to finding your dream role!”
