GROWTH IN DEMAND FOR LOCAL EDISCOVERY SERVICES BOOSTS SUCCESS FOR KROLL ONTRACK’S NEW DATA CENTRE IN GERMANY

56 million pages uploaded into document review databases hosted in Germany since May 2014
Kroll Ontrack, the leading global provider of ediscovery technologies and services to companies involved in litigation and investigations reported that there has been huge demand for ediscovery services provided by its new data centre in Germany.
Since opening in May 2014, Kroll Ontrack has delivered 56 million pages into document review databases hosted in Germany and copied 7,000 GB of data for processing. It is currently hosting document review databases for German law firms and their clients involved in investigations and litigation across a diverse range of industry sectors.
Kroll Ontrack launched its data centre in Germany in response to a growing demand for local ediscovery services that require data to be processed in-country and not to be transferred across borders for analysis in litigation or investigations. The launch coincided with the release of ediscovery.com Onsite, a portable, self-contained ediscovery solution that companies across Europe can use at their own premises behind their own firewalls.
This means that European companies now have the flexibility, control and security they need to successfully manage their electronic evidence and ediscovery obligations in the most appropriate location for their needs.
Tim Phillips, Managing Director of Kroll Ontrack International Legal Technologies, said: “We opened our data centre in Germany as part of our ongoing commitment to our clients globally, to provide ediscovery solutions locally. We are delighted to see such strong demand for our services from corporates and law firms in Germany, from such a broad range of industries sectors including automotive, electronics, engineering, financial services and insurance, manufacturing, logistics, technology and transport. We are seeing a much greater use of ediscovery technologies across a wide range of both domestic and international legal cases in Europe in investigations and also in litigation. We will continue to fulfill our commitment to our clients to provide in-country ediscovery solutions by opening a French data centre in 2015.”
“With the help of our services, our German clients can now comply more easily with data protection laws, as well as protect the confidentiality of their data as needed”, said Helmut Sauro, a Senior Consultant at Kroll Ontrack in Germany. “The demand for local ediscovery services in Germany has exceeded our expectations. We are growing our German ediscovery consultancy so that we can provide our clients not only with innovative technology but also with local ediscovery expertise to help them get the most out of it and address the challenges of ediscovery successfully.”
German Data Centre
Kroll Ontrack operates state-of-the-art data centres around the globe in the UK, the US, Japan and now Germany and manages over 20 petabytes of active data storage on behalf of clients.
The new data centre in Frankfurt offers not only extensive security, but also operational excellence for mission-critical applications such as ediscovery. Through this new data centre, companies and law firms in Europe can access Kroll Ontrack’s ediscovery technology in Germany, including data processing and filtering technology and a document review tool that can be used at all stages of a case with intelligent technology built in to control data volumes and cost.
Ediscovery.com Onsite
For cases involving data that is highly sensitive or subject to stringent privacy regulations or where clients wish to control their own data, Kroll Ontrack can install ediscovery.com Onsite, a self-contained ediscovery solution. This portable solution can be rapidly deployed and installed in any location. Kroll Ontrack sets up the solution, including both hardware and software, and ediscovery projects are processed onsite, with technical management of the solution conducted by Kroll Ontrack either onsite or remotely.
