The appointment of Sarah Birkbeck, a specialist IP, IT and media lawyer will bolster the firm’s offering to both the Media and Technology sectors, expanding our offering to clients on one of the key issues within the market. Sarah has acted for many high profile organisations including BSkyB, Arcadia and United Press International.
Based in Thomas Eggar’s London office, Sarah is responsible for all areas of litigation within the media and technology teams. The restructure reflects Thomas Eggar’s strong reputation in representing fast growth digital media companies as well as the industry-wide convergence of technological and media issues.
Previously a longstanding Partner at DMH Stallard, Sarah was instrumental in building the IP/IT team from 2001; a division that was repeatedly voted the top IP/IT team in the South East in the past few years. Sarah’s extensive and varied expertise includes advising on the prevention and management of disputes involving intellectual property rights, (particularly design right, copyright and trade marks), information technology, misuse of confidential information, breaches of restrictive covenants and reputation management.
Vicky Brackett, incoming Managing Partner for Thomas Eggar, said: “Sarah’s impressive IP pedigree and industry expertise are a perfect match for Thomas Eggar as we consolidate our sector-led approach nationwide.”
Sarah added: “This is a great opportunity to bring together two exceptional teams and I’m looking forward to building on Thomas Eggar’s track record across these key fast growth sectors. My role will be to boost the existing strong litigation offering and to harness the huge opportunities in these sectors by ensuring we continue to find creative, insight-driven, solutions to our clients’ requirements.”
