JOHANNESBURG, July 10 (Reuters) - South African police on Friday arrested a man in a Johannesburg suburb suspected of murdering his wife and two daughters in Britain.
Details of the Arrest
"The South African Police Service has successfully located and arrested Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma," South African police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said in televised comments on Friday.
"The suspect will now be processed in accordance with South African law, while the necessary legal and extradition processes are undertaken with the United Kingdom authorities," Mathe added.
Legal and Extradition Proceedings
British prosecutors on Friday authorised police to charge 45-year-old Tshuma, a British citizen of Zimbabwean heritage, with three counts of murder.
Victims and Timeline of Events
The bodies of his wife Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, 42, and his daughters Natalie, 15, and Nala, 5, were found at their home in Bedfordshire on Tuesday.
On Wednesday British police released a video surveillance image of Tshuma, and said he was believed to be in Zimbabwe after leaving Heathrow Airport on a British passport on July 4.
Upcoming Court Appearance
South African police spokesperson Mathe said Tshuma would appear in court on Monday, after being arrested on an Interpol Red Notice.
She added: "South Africa is not a hideout for fugitives".
