April 28 (Reuters) - Citigroup has hired Barclays' James Potts to lead its shareholder advisory and activism arm excluding North America, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters on Tuesday, to assist its clients through shareholder activities.
Potts' Previous Experience at Barclays
Potts will join Citi from Barclays, where he most recently advised companies in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) on shareholder activism and strategic alternatives.
Role and Responsibilities at Citi
In his new role, Potts will serve as managing director and head of Citi's Shareholder Advisory & Activism Defense Group for Europe, UK, Middle East and Africa, Japan, Australia and Asia South, Citi's global mergers arm's co-heads Guillermo Baygual and Drago Rajkovic said.
Reporting Structure and Location
Potts will be based in London, where he currently resides, and report to Citi's Europe mergers head Robin Rousseau and his UK and Middle East peer Barry Weir, the memo added.
