SAILPOINT EXTENDS OPEN IAM PLATFORM TO FOSTER INDUSTRY-DRIVEN INNOVATION

New plugin framework helps enterprises move more quickly toward identity-aware security and IT operations

SailPoint, the leader in identity and access management (IAM), continues to extend its open identity management platform and today announced a plugin framework for SailPoint IdentityIQTM, the industry’s first and only open identity management platform. The plugin framework allows customers and partners to develop extensions to core product features, enabling them to evolve towards an identity-aware enterprise organisation. As part of its identity plugin framework early access program, SailPoint unveiled a plugin to help manage PAM (privileged account management) solutions, and a series of early access plugins from partners including: ColumnIT, Heimore, Identropy, KOGIT, KPMG and Regatta.

The only way to achieve an “identity-aware” enterprise is to put identity at the core of the enterprise, which requires an IAM platform designed to integrate with the fabric of the IT and security infrastructure. For that reason, SailPoint announced the industry’s first and only open IAM platform in late-2015, and is now extending that vision even farther. By providing an open framework for developing and integrating plugins for the market-leading IAM platform, SailPoint is making it easier for organisations to integrate identity into the fabric of their IT and security infrastructure.

“Our vision for an open platform was to create a community of ‘power users’ who are actively extending their IAM programs into new areas, and we’re excited to help them to accelerate that innovation,” said Paul Trulove, vice president of product management for SailPoint. “Enterprises today have unique identity governance needs as they grow and scale their IAM implementations. We believe we can accelerate innovation by allowing the industry to build upon the industry’s leading identity governance product, IdentityIQ, to deliver value in new ways.”

“We’ve been very impressed with SailPoint’s commitment to delivering a market-leading open IAM platform that puts identity at the center of security. With the new IdentityIQ plugin framework, we will be able to expand the product in unique ways that benefit our deployment without having to develop custom components. For example, we’ve been able to quickly and easily install and configure the Regatta Governance Calendar without special services or downtime. With the Governance Calendar plugin installed in our environment, our support staff can view a summary of past, present and future certification events from a single place in IdentityIQ,” said Dane Paulsen, Infrastructure Engineer, Nelnet.

To help make this vision a reality, SailPoint and its partners will be demonstrating several beta plugins at Navigate ’16. The Identity+ Alliance will certify each plugin developed by partners so customers can be confident in using them. Examples of beta plugins showcased at Navigate ’16 include:

  • The PAM interface integration, which extends the value of Identity +Alliance certified PAM integrations;
  • An org chart visualiser, which provides a simple, straight-forward way to view employee and manager relationships in IdentityIQ;
  • A graphical matrix for creating and editing Separation of Duty (SoD) policy rules;
  • An SAP approval tree, which offers a visual representation of approvers within the SAP application; and
  • A certification calendar; which provides certification administrators with a consolidated calendar view of all active access certification campaigns.
