“We are delighted to welcome Dominic to our Committee,” said John Danilovich, Secretary General of the ICC. “Dominic brings invaluable experience and expertise that will help us to promote trade finance across the globe. This appointment is part of our continued commitment to diversify our membership to include experts from new regions and from different backgrounds to adapt to the ever-evolving trade finance industry.”

The ICC Banking Commission, which has over 600 members in 90 countries, is one of the most authoritative voices in the field of trade finance. The Commission’s strategy consists of three core pillars: rule-making, advocacy and financial inclusion.

“I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to join this renowned and influential organisation,” said Broom. “BNY Mellon has an important role to play when it comes to promoting international trade and financial inclusion. It’s vitally important that we support our correspondent banking clients to ensure they have access to financial services across the world and that they’re able to provide cross-border payment services to their customers.”

Last year Broom was appointed Global Head of Trade Business Development for Treasury Services at BNY Mellon. This role involves helping to drive BNY Mellon’s global trade strategy and enhancing the company’s profile in the trade finance space. Before this, Broom served as Head of Treasury Services for EMEA at BNY Mellon. He joined BNY Mellon in 2006 and prior to this held positions at Warburg Dillon Read in London, GE Capital’s European Equipment Finance division and ABN AMRO in Amsterdam. He started his banking career in 1994 on Chase Manhattan Bank’s graduate training programme.
