Charles Russell Speechlys builds Luxembourg office with partner hire and promotion

Charles Russell Speechlys is growing its Luxembourg office with the hire of corporate partner Jean-Baptiste Beauvoir-Plansonand the promotion of Yacine Diallo to partner.

A French avocat à la cour, Jean-Baptiste has twelve years of Luxembourg corporate law practice and is ranked in Chambers Global for M&A transactions in the French market. He advises private equity houses, multinational companies and private clients on their inbound and outbound investments.

James Carter, Managing Partner, Charles Russell Speechlys, says:

“We are seeing that many fund managers and corporates are looking to establish greater footprints in Luxembourg as part of their post-Brexit contingency planning. Since 2011, our Luxembourg office has specialised in tax planning, funds and M&A work which gives us a strong platform for growth within this context. I am confident that the addition of Jean-Baptiste’s experience and reputation in the market, coupled with the promotion of Yacine, will accelerate our growth in this increasingly important jurisdiction.”

Jean-Baptiste Beauvoir-Planson says:

“Charles Russell Speechlys is positioned as a premium firm in Luxembourg, with a strong track record in private wealth structuring and corporate work.  I am delighted to have the opportunity to bring my own complementary practice to the firm to strengthen it still further. I look forward to contributing to the firm’s practices by capitalising on my contacts in the U.S., UK, Eastern Europe and French markets.”

Jean-Baptiste studied at Columbia Law School in New York as well as Assas in Paris. He joins Charles Russell Speechlys on 2 July from Loyens & Loeff.

Yacine Diallo joined Charles Russell Speechlys in 2017 and his practice focuses on international tax structuring, providing assistance for private equity houses and real estate funds on their fund raising structures, cross-border holding and financing strategies, as well as advising family offices and private clients on wealth management structures. He has a wealth of experience in assisting clients on Africa-related transactions in all regions of the Continent, and sovereign investment entities and family holdings from the Gulf region.

David Louis, head of the firm’s Luxembourg office, says:

“We are honoured to welcome Jean-Baptiste to strengthen our corporate practice. He is a key person in our new phase of development which will allow the firm to build visibility in the market and respond to the expectations of our clients.

“Since joining Charles Russell Speechlys, Yacine has demonstrated great expertise in tax law along with strong business acumen which make him an invaluable member of our team. His promotion is a natural next step and is richly deserved indeed.”

The hire of Jean-Baptiste and promotion of Yacine brings the number of partners in the firm’s Luxembourg office to five.
