Champions score hole in one with two new additions to their golf department
One of Leicestershire’s fastest growing businesses, Champions (UK) plc have welcomed the addition of two former professional golfers to their ever-expanding team. Former European Tour player, Stuart Davis, and PGA professional, Dominic Fitzpatrick, have joined the agency’s golf department to help oversee the brand agency’s hugely successful golf events.
Together they will help Champions organise and deliver three fantastic golf events, the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship, Farmfoods European Senior Masters, and the Tony Jacklin CBE Belfry Charity Invitational. As well as this they also manage three professional players including of Gary Wolstenholme MBE, Peter Baker and Becky Brewerton.
Stuart and Dominic have both worked in and played professional golf for over 20 years, and therefore bring vast experience and a wealth of knowledge on the games to their roles.
Stuart will be working as Golf Operations Manager, and his responsibilities will involve managing all three golf events, as well as furthering the careers of the department’s pro players.
Having spent much of his life surrounded by the world of golf, Stuart turned professional in 2001 and went on to achieve 20 top ten finishes on the Challenge Tour and two on the European Tour. In 2013 he established The Eagle Golf Tour, a Midlands-based professional golf tour which continues to see success. As well as this he has previously won the prestigious ‘PGA Assistant of the Year’ award for the last two consecutive years and represented England at all levels of the sport.
Joining Stuart is Dominic Fitzpatrick who prior to joining the Champions team spent 15 years as a club pro at Glen Gorse Golf Club in Leicestershire. This saw him coach up and coming players, manage competitions and run their retail shop. Dominic was the captain and chairman for Leicestershire PGA, where he was integral in event organisation. In his role as Golf Account Executive at Champions, he will be responsible for gaining sponsorship and playing opportunities for professionals at Pro-Ams and Alliance events.
The expansion of Champions’ golf team is yet another example of how the business is continuing to grow and thrive. 2018 has already been a big year for the agency, seeing them celebrate their 15th birthday and launch their ten business centres of creative, digital, marketing, PR, media, events, publishing, advertising, celebrity and web.
Managing Director and Co-Founder of Champions, Matthew Hayes, discussed how the additions of Stuart and Dominic will impact the business. He said: “We are delighted to bring Stuart and Dominic onboard to head up our golf team. The pair join Champions with a wealth of experience behind them and I’m sure they will make a big impact as we look to expand this area of the business even further.”
