Former Managing Director of William Hill Onlinejoins fast-growing money transfer service

WorldRemit announces the appointment of Andrew Lee to the newly-created role of company President.

Andrew joins WorldRemit from William Hill Online where he was Managing Director, leading the digital transformation and continued growth of the business, including its rapid shift to mobile.

Working with WorldRemit founder and CEO Ismail Ahmed, Andrew will develop the WorldRemit global brand and lead the expansion of the company’s international operations.

Welcoming his appointment, Andrew Lee said: “WorldRemit is growing and evolving quickly – in terms of the number of people using the service, its international partnerships, technological capabilities and employee base. That makes it a very exciting time for me to join the team and share my experiences of other fast growing businesses and industries.”

WorldRemit founder and CEO Ismail Ahmed said: “I am delighted to welcome Andrew Lee to WorldRemit’s senior leadership team. Andrew brings a wealth of experience, most recently from an industry that has gone through a similar, rapid evolution to the one that money transfers is now experiencing.”

Andrew served as Managing Director of William Hill Online between 2012 and 2016. He also held the position of Interim Head of Mobile from April to October 2012.

As Managing Director, he led a significant transformation of the company, introducing new ways of working, including agile principles across the business.

A relentless focus on mobile, customer feedback and data-led decision-making was complemented by the development of proprietary technology for the first time. This ensured that, throughout its growth, William Hill Online has continued to deliver products and services that its customers, new and old, want to use.

Prior to joining William Hill, Andrew held senior roles at Jefferies International, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, William Hill, Dresdner Kleinwort, Arthur Andersen Business Consulting and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
