In her new role, Philippa will continue to guide the practice as its leading member as the firm seeks to expand its current market position as one of the Capital’s leading independent legal firms.

Speaking about her appointment, Philippa said: “I am very excited to be taking up the position of Managing Partner at Joelson.

“I hope that under my guidance we are able to continue with our success.

“We have become recognised as a forward-thinking practice, which has helped us to attract new clients from some of the world’s most innovative industries.

“I think this is a significant area for future growth and will be putting my efforts into growing the practice in these sectors, whilst continuing to support existing clients with their requirements.”

Philippa became a Partner at Joelson in 2012 and specialises in advising on all types of corporate and commercial transactional matters.

She often assists with acquisitions and disposals, MBOs, AIM work and company reorganisations, with a particular focus on fundraisings and shareholder agreements.

Alongside her regular work, Philippa is focused on assisting female entrepreneurs and can regularly be found supporting or speaking to various woman-led business groups.

She will take over as Managing Partner from Phil Hails-Smith as part of a rotation of roles within the firm.

He will remain at the firm in his current position as a Corporate and Commercial Partner, offering support on a wide range of complex matters.

Phil Hails-Smith added: “Since joining Joelson, Philippa has had a significant impact on the practice, assisting solicitors from various departments with a range of complex international matters.

“I can’t think of anyone better to hold this important position within our firm and I look forward to supporting Philippa for many years to come.”
