BRICKENDON PURSUES GROWTH APPOINTING HUGH WHELAN AS NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Brickendon, the award-winning financial management and technology consultancy, has appointed Hugh Whelan as a Non-Executive Director.
Hugh’s appointment comes at a time of change at Brickendon, which is currently undergoing a growth plan to strengthen its international foothold – this has already included the company opening an office in New York. As such, Hugh will be responsible for providing strategic advice to Brickendon’s senior management team to build the business organically.
Bringing a different dynamic to Brickendon, Hugh has been working in the financial services sector for over 18 years’ holding senior roles at Dresdner Bank, Mizuho, BayerischeLandesbank and Commerzbank. Highly regarded in the industry, Hugh began his career as an accountant before moving into investment banking, specifically risk management and foreign exchange. Developing and growing some of the sector’s ground-breaking platforms, Hugh was previously an Associated Director for FxSpotstream LLC, a multibank FX aggregation platform, where he was instrumental in establishing this successful bank consortium. Currently Head of Liquidity Management for EBS BrokerTec’s relationship-based trading venue, EBS Direct, Hugh is responsible for the growth and development of liquidity to establish a healthy, efficient and liquid marketplace. Hugh also sits on the Advisory Board for TeachTennis International, a tennis software company.
Hugh Whelan says, “I’ve always been impressed by Brickendon and how it conducts its business. The company is extremely focused and demonstrates a passion to change the industry, drawing on its experience to provide real commercial solutions to businesses. This dynamism as well as its ability to adapt to varying client needs has contributed to the business’ rapid growth. I’m really looking forward to working with Brickendon and building the business, making a difference and contributing to the future of the financial services sector.”
“Having previously worked with Hugh, I’ve watched his progression with interest”, states Christopher Burke, CEO of Brickendon. “Hugh’s diverse background and range of experience will certainly help us to reach our ambitious goals and growth strategy, as we look to strengthen our presence in the UK and overseas. I’m in no doubt Hugh’s understanding of the finance sector will help drive us to bigger and better horizons.”
