International law firm Bird & Bird LLP advised Quill Content Limited (“Quill”), a global content creator business, on its latest funding round led by Panoramic Growth Equity with participation by existing investor Smedvig Capital.

Quill, the global content creator business, aims to help ecommerce companies optimise the online purchase journey and use Primary Content to drive sales. The business has over 170 global customers in 13 countries including the likes of Google, John Lewis, House of Fraser, Ebay and Virgin Holidays.

The deal brings the total funding raised by Quill to £10m and will enable it to accelerate its rapid growth into new markets throughout Europe and the United States. The funding will also be used to further invest in Quill’s proprietary cloud software.

The Bird & Bird team was led by Corporate Partner Ali Ramadan and was assisted by Corporate Associate, Hannah Fletcher based in the London office.

Ed Bussey, CEO and Founder at Quill says: “Quill’s mission is to redefine how digital content is created. We’re at the forefront of a flourishing industry, at a time when demand for quality online content is soaring, and the old models of content production can’t meet this demand.”

With our unique business model – using technology to enable a global talent marketplace – we can produce high quality content at the speed and volume required by the fast-growth ecommerce companies emerging globally. This investment round gives us the financial firepower to scale our operations globally.”

Jon Lerner, Managing Director at Smedvig Capital comments: “Quill is a truly pioneering business that’s completely disrupting the traditional model for content production. We were delighted to participate in this latest funding round and look forward to continuing our support of the business through its next phase of growth.”

Ali Ramadan, Partner in the International Corporate Group at Bird & Bird says: “It was a great privilege to be able to assist Ed and the Quill team on their latest financing. Quill is an exciting business and we are looking forward to seeing it grow internationally and working with Quill in the years to come.

Bird & Bird worked alongside Addleshaw Goddard LLP, who acted as advisers to Panoramic Growth Equity.
