Travelex joins Stonewall’s Global Diversity Champions Programme

Travelex, part of the Finablr Group, has entered into a partnership with Stonewall, the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights charity, by joining its Global Diversity Champions Programme. Travelex will work in partnership with Stonewall to progress its Diversity and Inclusion agenda within the organisation, and in its capacity as a global business, endorse, support and drive Stonewall’s mission to ‘create real change for the better’.

In celebration of the partnership and in recognition of Pride in London 2018, Gareth Williams, Chief Innovation & Transformation Officer at Travelex commented: “As an openly gay man on the Board of a 140-year legacy multinational in the traditionally conservative financial services industry, Travelex’s official support for Stonewall has a vast personal significance for me. Travelex operates across 30 countries and we are committed to fostering a positive cross-border culture that champions all forms of inclusion including LGBTQ+ equality.”

The partnership directly supports the company’s work in a key area of its wider Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) agenda, having recently launched its virtual LGBTQ+ (and allies) community across its global network.

The aim is simple – to evangelise and raise awareness of LGBTQ+ equality through a platform to connect, engage and share workplace experiences and education, enhanced by Stonewall’s 29 years’ experience and expertise.

Gareth Williams continued: “Travelex is passionate about helping Stonewall drive real change and create a sustained and positive impact within the global LGBTQ+ community. And we seek to create an environment where all colleagues feel confident and proud to bring their whole selves to work. Our deeply ingrained company values and business ethics are aligned with the incredible work Stonewall does to overcome discrimination and intolerance in every sphere of life, including the workplace”.

Sexual orientation inclusiveness is one pillar of Travelex’s wider D&I agenda. Clare Belcher, co-chair of the Travelex Diversity & Inclusion Committee added: “We all look forward to joining forces with like-minded global organisations to help educate, empower and inspire people to embrace the diversity and inclusion agenda.”
