SIX POWERS AUSTRIA'S FIRST MOBILE CREDIT CARD – PAYLIFE 0100

SIX Payment Services (SIX) has announced the launch of Austria’s first mobile credit card PayLife 0100, bringing new momentum to the mobile payments industry in Austria.

As a result of the increase in contactless payments, SIX has issued the first mobile credit card in Austria, to simplify contactless payment and cash withdrawal. Existing and future holders of a PayLife credit card will be able to use their Android mobile phone to make payments both in Austria and across the globe, on all devices with the contactless symbol, and of course the card can be used online.

The mobile credit card,PayLife 0100, named after PayLife, SIX’ consumer brand in Austria, is a virtual credit card which is exclusively contactless and is stored on a secure area of the SIM card of the smartphone. Together with the payment app the mobile credit card is shown on the smartphone for simple and secure use.

The mobile card has the same features and insurance benefits as an existing Paylife credit card, including:

  • Fast contactless payments and cash withdrawals with the smartphone at all terminals and ATMs marked with the contactless icon.
  • Option to use online by entering the card details. Free registration of a 3D secure password ensures maximum security.

Commenting on the launch, Thomas Csipkó, Managing Director and Head Financial Industry Services Austria & CEE at SIX Payment Services said: “The mobile credit card is the next big step in cashless payment.  Mobility has become an integral part of our society – people always have their smartphone close by – and so mobile payments have become the future of the industry. SIX is delighted to offer customers the first and only mobile credit card in Austria and looks forward to continuing to innovate and setting new standards across the payment industry.”

The PayLife 0100 can easily be added for those individuals with an existing or new credit card via the online service portal “myPayLife.” The first year is free of charge, after which it costs EUR 0.90 per month.

Requirements for using the mobile credit card are an NFC-enabled Android martphone version 4.1 or above, a contract with an Austrian mobile operator, an NFC SIM card and an installed payment app.
