IngenicoePayments, the online and mobile commerce division of Ingenico Group, today announced that the company will offer the ability to accept mobile payments made with the Android Pay mobile wallet to its clients from early 2017. Android Pay lets consumers easily and securely complete an online purchase with their Android device. Since introduction at Google I/O in 2015, Android Pay has quickly become a popular payment method for Android users, who represent a large majority of mobile users. IngenicoePayments is committed to helping merchants optimise their mobile sales with the most-used and fastest-growing payment methods, such as Android Pay.
Consumers increasingly expect the shopping experience on their mobile device to offer the same simplicity and security as desktop or even in-store shopping. Android Pay enables merchants to provide a seamless checkout experience that eliminates the need to continually enter payment and delivery information. Once Android Pay is set up and activated by the consumer, these details are already included. Setting up Android Pay is fast and easy, and once an eligible credit or debit card has been assigned, Android Pay is automatically added as a payment option with those merchants that are able to accept it. For Ingenico clients, adding Android Pay is a simple process with Ingenico Connect, which includes a dedicated Android SDK.
“Integrating Android Pay with IngenicoePayments will make it easier for even more businesses of all sizes to further streamline their checkout experience by offering their customer a simpler, faster in-app payment experience,” said Spencer Spinnell, Director, Business Development, Google.
“Android is the world’s most popular mobile OS by some distance, and millions of consumers all over the world use their Android device to buy things online,” said LudovicHouri, Vice President, Products at IngenicoePayments. “For our clients, it is becoming increasingly important to accept not just the traditional payment products, but also the rapidly growing, mobile-first solutions such as Android Pay. As mobile commerce expands, providing a seamless and secure payment experience to customers is absolutely vital and Android Pay does exactly that.”
