Industry Veteran Dennis Sweeney joins Lacuna Solutions

Leaves role at Societe Generale to become Senior Partner at growing Fintech startup

London, UK: Lacuna Solutions, the creators of ClientScope™, a platform that delivers to banks and financial institutions a complete 360° view of their clients, announces the appointment of a new Senior Partner, Dennis Sweeney. Mr Sweeney joins from Societe Generale, London, where he had represented Societe Generale on the Board of both CHAPS & SWIFT UK Limited.

Mr Sweeney has worked in the industry for over 50 years working in diverse roles at firms including Midland Bank, Citibank and Lehman Brothers before joining Societe Generale Group in 1998 and progressed to Managing Director / Group Head Treasury Operations. Through the period he was on the Board of SWIFT UK Limited & represented Societe Generale as a CHAPS Board Director until CHAPS moved into Bank of England last year.

As Senior Partner at Lacuna, Mr Sweeney will steer a programme to influence widespread industry change and build a working force to combat Financial Crime. He will report to CEO Diana Downing.

“Lacuna is a thrilling opportunity: I have known Diana for many years and working with her in such an exciting and growing start-up was irresistible. She has created more than a FinTech company. It is more like a movement committed to changing for the better. Lacuna is dedicated to helping the payments industry in the battle against financial crime, both through its technology and data solutions and in actionable spirit”, said Dennis Sweeney. “My remit is to create a non-commercial program that will build a community in the industry that is dedicated to bring about institutional change,” he added.

Dennis brings unquestionable experience to our Senior Partner team. From an Operational standpoint he has global connectivity and is one of the most respected and connected people in the City of London. I couldn’t imagine a better person to lead our charge in bringing a positive change in the financial world. I am delighted that Dennis has decided to join us,” said Diana Downing.

Lacuna’s ClientScope™ platform helps banks and other organisations manage the increasingly complex business, risk and regulatory relationship that financial institutions have with their clients. This in turn improves the quality of strategic decision making and planning across markets, clients and products.
