ICAEW LOOKS TO THE STUDENT COMMUNITY TO FIND THEIR REPRESENTATIVE AT THE ONE YOUNG WORLD SUMMIT 2017 IN COLOMBIA.
On the 17 March 2017, Chartered Accountants’ Hall in London will play host to 100 exceptional UK university students as part of ICAEW 100 – a nationwide competition which aims to discover the most promising students with the potential to succeed as the next generation of business leaders.
The students’ journey to this prestigious event commences with a series of online exercises open to all students at UK universities, regardless of year or subject studying. Designed to showcase skills and behaviours crucial to ICAEW Chartered Accountants (e.g. able to make recommendations and decisions that impact on strategy, multi-tasking and prioritising) the 100 highest scoring students will appear on the competition leader board.
Those on the leader board by the end of the competition in February 2017 will be invited to the celebratory Grand Final in London, where they will be joined by representatives from ICAEW, as well as supporting employers, including BDO, EY, Mazars, PwC and RSM.
But for one overall winner, their journey doesn’t end there – they will go on to represent the ICAEW at the One Young World Summit 2017, in Bogota, Colombia. The summit brings together the most valuable young talent from around the world, joined by world leaders acting as the One Young World Counsellors. Previous delegates at the Summit have had the chance to meet Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, Sir Bob Geldof, Kofi Annan and Sir Richard Branson.
In addition to this once-in-a-lifetime trip, there are a range of prizes up for grabs, including work experience opportunities and professional mentoring, to support students in career planning and development.
The event sees a collaboration between ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales), one of the world’s leading professional membership organisations and GTI – UK and Ireland’s leading provider of graduate and school leaver’s careers information and recruitment solutions through student-focused brands, TARGETjobs and TARGETpostgrad.
Simon Rogers, GTI director said, “We’re really excited to bring this one-of-a-kind competition to thousands of students across the UK, and to give them the chance to win some remarkable prizes and opportunities! We’re thrilled to support ICAEW and, in turn, highlight the many graduate opportunities across the Accounting, Finance and Business sectors.”
Clare Power, ICAEW head of student recruitment said, “The competition highlights the skills and behaviours needed to make it in business. We’re really excited to discover the next generation of ICAEW Chartered Accountants, who can expect to enjoy stable and varied careers; from positions on the boards of FTSE companies, through to the CEOs of charities”.
Students wishing to take part in the competition can go to http://icaew100.com/.
The competition is open to students studying any subject from any year group as long as they are currently studying at a UK university. Competition closes in February 2017.
