First Online Marketplace Devoted Exclusively to American-Made Goods Now Open for Business
AnytownUSA Connects Buyers and Sellers of Made-in-the-USA Products
Local Businesses, Artisans, Crafters and Manufacturers Tap Innovative Platform to Reach New Customers with Thousands of American-Made Products, Grow Their Businesses and Create Jobs
AnytownUSA announced today the launch of the first “American Made Marketplace,” which is live at www.anytownusa.com and accepting orders from customers who want to purchase American-made goods from independent businesses, artisans, crafters and small and large-scale manufacturers proud to make their products in the USA. The AnytownUSA marketplace is the only one to bring together so many diverse sellers of Made in the USA offerings – approximately 70 sellers are already active on the platform, offering thousands of items ranging from apparel and accessories to home goods, from individually crafted one-of-a-kind pieces to small and large-scale manufactured merchandise.
According to a Consumer Reports special report on Made in America, 80% of Americans would prefer to buy an American-made product rather than a comparable, imported one; and more than 60% say they would pay a slight premium for that product. Survey respondents cited supporting the US economy and retaining and creating jobs among main reasons for their interest in purchasing products that are made domestically.
With tariff wars heating up and the threat of rising prices for certain imported goods, the time is right for an online marketplace focused on items Made in the USA.
AnytownUSA Founder CEO Geralyn Breig said: “There are great quality products made with pride and integrity in the United States, but they aren’t always easy to find. For more than a year I’ve traveled throughout the country meeting people who make items domestically, and they deserve a platform where they can connect with shoppers from coast to coast who want to support American craftsmanship and manufacturing. The solution is the American-made Marketplace we’ve just launched at www.anytownusa.com, the eCommerce site that is uniquely committed to helping local and nation-wide businesses reach new customers with their Made in the USA products, to grow their businesses and create sustained jobs in their communities.”
Anytownusa.com not only features unique, credible and quality sellers, it helps tell their stories to create connections between shoppers and sellers. Relationships are an important aspect of purchase decisions, especially for Millennials, who represent 28% of daily per-person consumer spending. Unlike impersonal online retail websites, anytownusa.com offers an intimate online community.
“As a clay artist, I create handcrafted, unique, Raku pottery in my Florida studio and I am so excited to be among the first sellers on anytownusa.com,” said Barbara Eden Staley, creator of Works In Clay Pottery. “Through the AnytownUSA eCommerce site, I can showcase my collection of one-of-a-kind handmade ceramic pieces to new customers across the country who are interested in finely crafted, American-made products.”
Prior to founding AnytownUSA, Geralyn Breig was President of Clarks, America. She has also served as President of Avon North America; SVP and Global Brand President of Avon Products, Inc.; and President of Godiva Chocolatier International. Ms. Breig holds a B.S. in Economics magna cum laude from The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
