EXECUTIVE COACH KAREN CARMODY SERVES AS PANELIST FOR HBA MENTORING PROGRAM
Chrysalis Coaching & Consulting’s President Marks IWD with #PledgeForParity
Executive Coach Karen Carmody, President of Chrysalis Coaching & Consulting LLC, served as a panelist at the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) Mentor Program Breakfast. The program was held at the Broad Institute.
The panel discussion was part of the Mentor Training for all mentors for the HBA Program. The program focused on sharing best practices. Carmody shared her experience as an HBA Mentor in dealing with difficult situations.
The event coincided with International Women’s Day (IWD). IWD has celebrated the social, cultural, economic and political achievements of women for more than 100 years. The day is about celebration, reflection, advocacy and action at a local and global level.
This year’s IWD theme is #PledgeForParity. The organizers requested that supporters take a concrete step to help achieve gender parity more quickly. Specifically, participants were asked to help women and girls achieve their ambitions, call for gender-balanced leadership, end workplace bias or develop a more inclusive culture.
The IWD organizers believe that the most important determinant of a country’s competitiveness is its human talent via the skills and productivity of its workforce. They also believe organizations must illuminate the path to leadership showing women the career and advancement opportunities that match their skills and professional objectives.
“I can’t think of a better day to have the HBA Mentor Training Breakfast than International Women’s Day,” said Carmody. “HBA is committed to furthering the advancement of women and the HBA Mentor Program functions as a catalyst. Serving as a panelist and an HBA Mentor provide opportunities for me to put my IWD pledge into action.”
The HBA Mentoring Program is in its eleventh year and started in the Boston Chapter. It has built a community of over 800 women who work together to address challenges in their careers. Participants gain leadership skills, enhanced confidence, clarified career goals and expanded professional networks.
This is Carmody’s third consecutive year serving as a Mentor for an executive mentee group for the HBA Mentoring Program.
In addition to her responsibilities as President of Chrysalis Coaching & Consulting, Carmody works with several non-profit organizations. She serves as the Vice President, Education & Professional Development on the International Coach Federation of New England (ICFNE) Board of Directors and a member of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Workforce Development Committee. She is also a coach for Babson College’s undergraduate Coaching for Leadership & Teamwork Program (CLTP) and a Developmental Learning Partner for Babson College’s Graduate Managing Talent Program.
