DELOITTE WITNESSES JORDANIAN MOICT NATIONAL ROOT KEY GENERATION CEREMONY
As part of its implementation of the National Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), the Jordanian Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MoICT) engaged Deloitte Middle East to audit the PKI program and help them obtain the WebTrust Seals. In the first phase of this program Deloitte participated in Root Key Generation Ceremony witnessing for MoICT.
“It is essential to stress on the importance of implementing PKI solution in the Kingdom’s digital transformation process and the application and activation of e-signatures, which will contribute to the transformation of digital economy,” said H.E. MajdShoueika, Jordanian MoICT minister.
“The successful issuance of PKI certifications will enable us to provide a secure infrastructure that supports the implementation of e-signatures and digital documentation on the national level. This implementation aims to ensure the protection and security of the applications that are related to the digital identity’s management system, the electronic services (vertical, shared and overlapped), and the governmental network and data communication between government and clients,” she added.
“Deloitte is a global leader in the field of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) assurance and advisory services. Furthermore, having already assisted clients in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, and now also Jordan, this reaffirms Deloitte’s expertise and prominent role in the field of PKI in the Middle East. We participate and lead various committees that develop and set the global standards, and are one of the Licensed WebTrust Practitioners for Certificate Authority audits in the Middle East region with local resources and access to a global network of professionals,” said Tariq Ajmal, Information & Technology Risk Partner, Deloitte, Middle East.
This National PKI solution provides a full identity management solution, which makes it possible for the ministry to become the first Certificate Services Provider (CSP) in Jordan. Moreover, the PKI solution will be catering for authentication and digital signature for Government employees as well as Jordanian Citizens and organizations conducting in the Kingdom.
