BAKERHOSTETLER SIGNS LEASE AT 200 CIVIC CENTER DRIVE

Firm acquires lease to four floors at premier location on Scioto Mile in Columbus

BakerHostetler today announced it has signed a lease agreement for approximately 62,000 square feet of space at 200 Civic Center Drive, Columbus, Ohio, on the Scioto Mile in downtown Columbus. BakerHostetler will move 74 attorneys and 49 professional staff — currently working at Capitol Square at 65 East State St. — to the new location in June 2017. CBRE represented BakerHostetler in the deal.

The building is a 14-story class A, 240,000-square-foot office building owned by Robert Meyers and Casto Partners. BakerHostetler signed a 10-year lease agreement and will occupy floors 10 through 13. The new location is a “signature” building in the River South/Scioto Mile District, a $40 million redevelopment area in the heart of downtown Columbus with 145 acres of parkland and a bustling events calendar.

“As an important and longtime member of the Columbus business community, we are delighted to be moving to a place that is vital to the redevelopment of downtown,” said Ron Linville, Managing Partner of the firm’s Columbus office. “Our move into a prime location with ample greenspace and an efficient and convenient office location reinforces our commitment to the well-being of our employees, the ease of use for our clients and the future of our community.”

For more than 36 years, BakerHostetler’s Columbus office has served many of Central Ohio’s preeminent businesses and has provided counsel to manufacturers, political subdivisions, healthcare suppliers and providers, insurers, real estate developers, financial institutions, energy enterprises, transit systems, and other companies in a diverse range of industries. BakerHostetler’s unwavering commitment to client satisfaction endures as a central tenet of its culture, and the firm’s clients benefit from the resources, knowledge, and experience of a national firm with the responsiveness of a local office. Acritas, a legal market researcher, singled out BakerHostetler as a “Rising Star Brand” for top-level litigation; the firm also placed in the top 10 of 322 law firms ranked in BTI Consulting Group’s Client Service 30 survey.

Columbus attorneys practice in the firm’s national business, litigation, employment and labor, tax, personal planning, employee benefits, and government and regulatory relations practices. Chambers USA, a leading international legal ranking organization, has ranked six Columbus attorneys in the 2015 edition of its prestigious U.S. directory. They practice in commercial litigation, employee benefits and executive compensation, healthcare and labor and employment. In Ohio, the firm has earned Band 1 rankings in the areas of Bankruptcy/Restructuring, Corporate/M&A, Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation, and Labor & Employment in the prestigious Chambers USA Guide (2015).

BakerHostetler is a national law firm celebrating its centennial year. The firm was first founded in downtown Cleveland on Jan. 1, 1916, by Newton D. Baker, Joseph C. Hostetler and Thomas L. Sidlo. The Columbus office opened in October 1979, with 27 attorneys, after a combination with the Columbus firm of George, Greek, King, McMahon & McConnaughey. BakerHostetler now totals 14 offices and more than 940 attorneys across the U.S.
