Thousands of school children inspired at Glasgow event
MORE than 8,000 youngsters attended the inaugural Fire Up Scotland event in Glasgow earlier this week. (Wednesday 12 Sept).
The school children, from across the country, took part in the day long gathering in the SSE Hydro at the Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow.
The unique learning experience was organised by Gavin Oattes, Managing Director of workshop and training course provider Tree of Knowledge, in partnership with the Scottish Event Campus, North Lanarkshire Council and The Hunter Foundation.
Described as “TEDx meets The Fringe”, the day-long experience included presentations from keynote speakers on a range of topics and subjects, alongside some incredible entertainment from Scottish Indie rock sensations Indigo Velvet, magician Kevin Quantum, and Scot-Squad star Darren Connell.
Organiser and speaker Gavin Oattes said:
“This event was about lighting a fire in the bellies of thousands of school children from across Scotland. For some this may have been the first time they have set foot in The SSE Hydro and I have no doubt that the success of the event is down to both the Fire Up and SEC team who have worked tirelessly to deliver this truly motivating experience for Scotland. From rock stars to entrepreneurs and fashion designers we delivered an incredible experience for these young people and hopefully they will look back in 30 years and say this was the moment when it clicked for them.”
