How To Host On Twitch?
Twitch is an online streaming and viewing service which provides quality video broadcasts. Founded in the year 2011, its initial focus was on video games but has now expanded to other things like music, dance, artwork, talk shows, etc. It’s popularity online is such that there are about 2 million new subscribers every month with more than 17k streamers making money from partner programs. Hosting is very popular among Twitch users; streamers promote other streamers in their channel by showing live streams of others they recommend.
Hosting on twitch is beneficial for both the channel owner and the other streamer as they are both active online with fresh content.
Hosting on a computer: To use Twitch on your computer, enter the URL www.twitch.com in the browser. Sign in to your account if you already have one, else create an account which can be seen in the top-right of your screen.
At the website’s top-right corner your username will be displayed, click on it to get a drop-down menu. On clicking ‘Channel’ option, a chatroom will appear on the right. Enter /host and the channel name in the chat. Once you do that the users who watch your channel will get to view the channel that you hosted. Though your chatroom is active all the views from your channel is now counted as views of the channel you hosted. To stop hosting it, enter /un-host in the chat window.
There is also an option to an auto host by changing the settings and switching on the option. You can add many twitch channels that you want to host. Check the save settings whenever you add a new channel to the list of already added channels.
Hosting on Mobile: You can also host twitch on your mobile. Download the purple icon Twitch app from App Store on iPad or iPhone or Google Play on Android. Once the app is installed on the mobile, login or signup to the account using the username and password.
Look for your profile pic; it is present on the top-right corner on Android and top-left corner on Apple products. Click on it to get the profile options.
Now hit the chat menu of your channel, which is the fourth option on the profile pic.
Enter /host and the channel name that you want to host if you want to host the main channel, enter /host twitch in the chat window. As in the desktop application, only your chatroom is active the user view is counted to the channel you have hosted.
To stop the channel from hosting enter /un-host in the chat window.
The fundamental purpose behind hosting another Twitch channel is to help the channel grow though it is directly not beneficial if you host a channel of another streamer, it is a kind of agreement that you do with friends or colleagues that you host them and they do the same to you. That not only keeps each other’s channel active but also cross-pollinate viewers and help to grow.
