Edenred Italian Division and Ex-Executives to Face 2027 Tender Fraud Trial
Rome Judge Orders Trial Over Alleged Fraudulent Public Tender
ROME, May 14 (Reuters) - A Rome judge on Thursday ordered the Italian unit of French voucher company Edenred to stand trial over an allegedly fraudulent public tender launched in 2019, two judicial sources said.
Defendants and Dismissals
The sources added that, alongside the company, the judge also ordered two former executives of the Italian unit to stand trial, while dismissing proceedings against two others who had been placed under investigation.
Trial Details and Charges
The trial, over charges of aggravated fraud and bid-rigging, will start in Rome on January 12, 2027, according to the sources.
Company Response and Investigation Background
Edenred and Edenred Italia were not immediately available for comment.
The French company itself disclosed the investigation into its Italian unit in February 2024, saying it could not comment but adding that it was "confident of the outcome".
The investigation, according to a statement issued at the time by Rome prosecutors, concerned the award of meal voucher contracts for Italy's public administration.
