Delta Summit launch: the Maltese government’s official blockchain event

“Malta will be the epicentre of the blockchain industry. We invite you to experience this between the 3rd and 5th October at the Delta Summit, the Maltese government’s official blockchain event. Be part of the blockchain island.”

This was stated by Parliamentary Secretary for Financial Services, Digital Economy and Innovation Silvio Schembri while participating in a fireside chat with the American venture investor Tim Draper and Angel Labs founder TugceErgul, moderated by Abdalla Kablan.

The Parliamentary Secretary said that the Delta Summit is the Maltese government’s official event and it will serve as a platform to exhibit the work done so far within this sector. During the fireside chat, Silvio Schembri announced that 3 bills—the Malta Digital Innovation Authority Bill, the Virtual Financial Asset Bill, and the Innovation Technological Services Arrangements Bill—are now online and can be accessed. “This puts Malta a step away from becoming the first world jurisdiction to regulate this sector”, said Schembri.

Tim Draper, owner of Draper Associates, hailed the Maltese government’s efforts in this sector. “This is my first time in the blockchain island. Congratulations for the early start and the big lead on other countries. By setting up the regulator you are putting Malta at the top of the list”, said Draper, while encouraging those within the blockchain industry to participate in the Delta Summit.

Through a video message, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat invited all those in the blockchain industry and the digital world to be in Malta for the Delta Summit. “We would like you to come and learn more about the country’s efforts in being trailblazers in this field”, said Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.

Also through a video message, Binance CEO and founder Changpeng Zhao expressed his reasons for choosing Malta as headquarters. “Malta has amongst the most forward thinking political leaders”, Zhao stated. Changpeng Zhao, who will be present for the summit as one of its high profile speakers, also encouraged those part of the blockchain industry to be a part of the summit.

The Delta Summit is the Maltese government’s official digital innovation event happening between the 3rd and 5th October.

Venue: IACC Conference Centre, Intercontinental Malta, St.Julians, Malta

Malta has been working hard on building the world’s first regulatory framework to regulate technology arrangements and structures such as DLT (including blockchain, AI, and IOT). These efforts have resulted in the establishment of one of the world’s first authorities to regulate this space. Many high-profile speakers have been confirmed and others will be announced in the coming days. The conference has also secured Bloomberg as the official media partner which will be covering the event.

Big companies such as Binance, Okex, Bitfury, Monaco, Cubits and others have lined up to sponsor the event and 1,000-1,500 attendees are expected.
