ICTROOM WINS 2016 EUROPEAN FROST & SULLIVAN AWARD FOR ITS HIGHLY FLEXIBLE INTEGRATED MODULAR DATA CENTRE (IMD)

ICTroom's Integrated Modular Datacenter

Based on its recent analysis of the modular data centre market, Frost & Sullivan has recognised ICTroom with the 2016 European Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Line Strategy Leadership. ICTroom has carved a niche for itself in the modular data centre space by positioning itself as an integrator with outstanding technological expertise. The company has a wide range of products that are rich in value-added features and highly customisable. It recently launched a slew of products, among which the IMD250 stands out for its ground-breaking flexibility.

ICTroom’s Integrated Modular Data Centre (IMD) portfolio employs a common platform for its products, wherein a number of solutions can be created using a standard toolkit of components. The IMD is a combination of three independent modules: an IT module, a power distribution module, and a primary power module. The IT module comprises the data floor and cooling infrastructure. The company provides a range of cooling options including mechanical, free-air, and indirect ventilation (ait-to-air). Its power distribution module consists of reliable, transparent, and fully concurrent maintainable switchgear systems, as well as scalable, efficient, and redundant UPS systems. Its primary power module has high-quality transformers and dedicated generators for each module.

“Significantly, the IMD portfolio is extremely scalable, even within the module itself. The IT capacity can be deployed in multiple phases and components, and modules can be added concurrently, without any disruption to business,” said Frost & Sullivan’s Senior Industry Analyst Gautham Gnanajothi. “Owing to its portfolio expansion, ICTroom now offers more granular steps in scaling capacity and a new product line for micro-sites with requirements below 100 kW.”

In 2016, ICTroom addressed the market for different footprints by launching three new product lines: the IMD50, IMD250, and IMD1000. These solutions allow the company to cater to all data centre applications — whether a small, point solution for a few racks inside an office or on the roof of a hospital, or a planned multi-megawatt site.

ICTroom’s key differentiating factor is that it is a specialist integrator rather than a manufacturer. This gives the company access to cutting-edge technologies across the value chain and the ability to employ the best of breed components in its products.

“Furthermore, the IMD platform uses a sophisticated building information modelling system (BIM) that ensures design accuracy to sub-millimetre level. It is a pre-engineered 3D layout of the whole design, including all the equipment and cabling, which enables the company to identify and rectify any conflicts before the build process starts,” noted Gnanajothi. “With rapid deployment ratios of 12 to 15 weeks in total, ICTroom shows a best-in-class performance and outpaces even colocation offerings.”

The company has gone a step ahead of its competitors in presenting data centre as a service (DCaaS), whereby it delivers a turnkey, dedicated data centre through an operational expenditure (OPEX) model. The company undertakes all activities, from land purchase/lease and construction using the IMD platform to operation under a long-term (10- to15-year) arrangement.

The IMD range is fully weatherproof with integrated security and monitoring that can be deployed as a stand-alone or greenfield solution. It also can be deployed in suitable existing buildings.

The company’s excellence in supply chain reliability is another key reason for its tremendous success in this highly competitive environment.  Its partners include industry-leading component suppliers Siemens, Caterpillar, Eaton, and Denco Happel.
