MAC Address stands for Media Access Control address. The address is a number which identifies the network adapters installed on your computer. This address is a composition of 6 number pairs separated by colons. If you’re connecting to a network through a router, sometimes you’ve to give the MAC Address to connect successfully. But do you know how to find the MAC address? Let’s find out how to do that.

For Windows 10:

Finding the MAC Address from windows ten is only possible when you’re connected to the network. If you want to see the address for your wireless card you’ve to connect to the Wifi. In the same way, if you’re going to find the address of your wired card, you need to connect to the Ethernet.

Now that you’re connected let’s go ahead. You have to look for the network icon on the taskbar of the system. It usually exists at the bottom-right corner of the screen. Click on the network button. A pop-up will come showing the network you’re connected and other systems that are available.

On your connected network, there will be a “Properties” button. Click on the properties. By clicking on that, you will open the Network settings. On this new window, scroll down to the “Properties” Section. It’ll be the final section of the window. Under this section, you can find the MAC Address of your system.

If you’re using the Linux Operating system, you can also find the MAC Address by following few steps. In your system, Open terminal. If you can’t see it, try searching for Xterm, Shell, Command Prompt, or something similar in the Accessories folder in your Applications.

On the interface system, type “ifconfig -a” and press ENTER. If your access is denied, try inputting “sudo ifconfig -a” and then Enter the Password when prompted. After the processing is done, scroll down to find your network connection. In that section, look for “HWaddr” entry. This will be your MAC Address.
