MILAN, April 15 (Reuters) - Italy's biggest utility Enel will hire 1,000 new workers at its power distribution unit E‑Distribuzione under an agreement with trade unions aimed at ending a two‑year labour dispute, unions said on Wednesday.
The deal was signed late on Tuesday in Rome between Enel management and national unions Filctem‑Cgil, Flaei‑Cisl and Uiltec‑Ui, the workers representatives said in a statement.
It is designed to address key operational and organisational issues at the unit, including staffing levels and shifts.
The proposed agreement will now be submitted to workers for approval.
The deal also commits Enel to reopening broader talks on unresolved issues, including the electricity network, concessions and investments.
