    • Offers Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S7, S7 Edge and the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ customers a safe, simple and convenient way to pay on the go
    • Available to Santander debit and credit card customers, providing them with another channel to make payments
    • The new mobile solution allows users of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ to authenticate payments with innovative Iris Scanner technology

From today, Santander UK will offer its customers access to Samsung Pay. The service is available on Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S7, S7 Edge, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ providing another, simple and secure way for customers to pay. On the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+, Iris Scanner technology is available to authenticate customer’s payments. The technology uses the iris recognition camera and LED to scan and recognise the unique pattern of the phone owners’ iris, meaning only they can make and authorise payments.

Matt Hall Director of Banking at Santander UK said, “At Santander, we’re always looking at how we can provide customers with the latest tools to manage their money and make payments.

“The new Samsung Pay service complements the existing mobile payment solutions we offer our customers and is an excellent next step on the journey to make every day payments easier.”

Security and privacy are at the centre of this new device. When you add a credit or debit card to Samsung Pay, the card numbers are not stored on the device. All transactions use a random digital token instead of the card number, which means the actual card information isn’t shared while paying and details stay safe. Customers can choose to authorise payments in a range of ways, using innovative Iris Scanner technology, a registered fingerprint or a PIN on their other compatible devices.

Samsung Pay is available for all debit and credit cards apart from ATM only cash cards, Visa top-up debit cards and business Visa electron cards. It is easy to set up and customers who choose to use it will continue to receive all of the rewards and benefits already offered by our cards.
