London, 18 March 2013: VocaLink, the international payment provider, today announces the appointment of Cara O’Nions as Marketing Director. Cara will report to Paul Stoddart, Managing Director, Strategy and Business Development.

Cara joins VocaLink from WorldPay where she was Head of Marketing with a focus on expanding the strategic remit of the marketing function within the business. In her new role Cara will be responsible for marketing strategy and planning, brand and external communications.

Cara brings over fifteen years’ experience in financial services marketing from previous roles including Head of Brand and Communications at One Savings Bank, Head of Marketing at Business Link and Head of Brand and Communications at Goldfish/Morgan Stanley Credit Cards. During this time, she has been responsible for the implementation of strategic internal and external communication programmes, supporting business growth and profitability.

Commenting on her new role Cara said, “With the payments landscape evolving rapidly, I am excited to join a company with such an excellent reputation for being an innovator in the payments industry. I am impressed by VocaLink’s decision to commission extensive research into finding out what Britons really want from payment services. The findings reveal there is a real appetite for digital payments, with just over a quarter of the population already banking via their mobile and there are some fascinating insights into changing customer banking behaviour and attitudes, which will shape and transform the way we pay. I am looking forward to being part of the team driving the delivery of new payment services which will meet these customer demands.’’

Paul Stoddart, managing director, strategy and business development, VocaLink, commented: “Cara’s appointment is fundamental in supporting our commitment to drive payments innovation forward in the UK and internationally. Her experience proves her to be a commercially focused brand marketer, which will be key to VocaLink’s future growth plans and we are delighted to welcome Cara to the team.”
