THOMSON REUTERS M&A DATABASE SURPASSES ONE MILLION DEALS GLOBALLY

THOMSON REUTERS M&A DATABASE SURPASSES ONE MILLION DEALS GLOBALLY

Fueled by a record-breaking year, M&A database offers largest collection of deal making activity in the world

Thomson Reuters has recorded the one millionth deal in its industry-leading Mergers & Acquisitions database, which covers changes in economic ownership of businesses worldwide, from minority stake purchases through 100 percent takeovers.

Thomson Reuters Mergers & Acquisitions database, part of the Thomson Reuters Deals solution which can be accessed via Eikon, is used across the world by more than 3,000 investment banks, law firms, hedge funds, educational institutions and corporations to monitor and report on transaction activity, perform market share analysis, and identify new business and investment opportunities.

The Thomson Reuters database is the only one of its kind to offer 35+ years of historical data, dating back to the 1970s. In 2015 it tracked over 43,000 deals, marking an all-time high for any single year of global M&A activity.

“For over 30 years, our dedicated operations and contributor relations teams have worked hard to ensure we capture as many M&A deals possible across the world. They examine thousands of sources to try to capture every single deal – from smaller, undisclosed value transactions to eye-popping multi-billion dollar deals,” said Debra Walton, chief product and content officer, Financial & Risk at Thomson Reuters. “From our rigorous valuation methodologies to our closely followed League Table rankings, Thomson Reuters offers premiere M&A content .”

“We are delighted to reach such a significant milestone for our Deals database, which is an industry leader in keeping up with the needs of bankers and investment managers covering diverse deal types and geographies,” said Ranjit Tinaikar, managing director, Global Advisory and Investment Management at Thomson Reuters. “It is particularly fitting that we’ve crossed the millionth-deal threshold just as we witnessed a record-breaking $4.7 trillion dollars in announced deals in 2015 across developed and key fast-growing emerging markets – and the database has likely never seen greater study or interest across the global financial spectrum.”

Thomson Reuters Deals content serves tens of thousands of users across the company’s product portfolio – including the next-generation search and League Table views in Thomson Reuters Eikon. Thomson Reuters M&A content covers over one million deals, including 300,000+ US-target and 700,000+ non-US-target transactions since the 1970s.
