BERLIN (Reuters) – Germany will make it through the winter if citizens, companies and policymakers continue to adapt to the country’s changed energy situation, Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Tuesday.
“I am happy to say to you today: If we all continue to adapt to the changed situation – the citizens, the companies and the politicians – then we will get safely through this winter,” he told an engineering conference.
Scholz added that Germany is almost at the target of having its gas storage facilities 95% full.

Energy sustainability refers to the ability to meet current energy needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own energy needs, often through the use of renewable resources.
Economic growth is the increase in the production of goods and services in an economy over a period of time, typically measured by the rise in Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Gas storage facilities are large underground or above-ground structures used to store natural gas, ensuring supply during periods of high demand or low production.
Policymakers create regulations and frameworks that guide energy management practices, ensuring energy security, sustainability, and compliance with environmental standards.
Adapting to energy changes is crucial for maintaining energy security, reducing costs, and minimizing environmental impacts, especially during transitions to renewable energy sources.
