“Under the agreement, which covers Nokia’s fundamental inventions in 5G and other technologies, Samsung will make payments to Nokia for a multi-year period beginning 1 January 2023,” the Finnish company said.
The terms of the agreement remain confidential, it added.
The agreement is consistent with Nokia’s previous long-term outlook disclosure, the company said.

5G technology is the fifth generation of mobile network technology, offering faster speeds, lower latency, and the ability to connect more devices simultaneously compared to previous generations.
Fundamental inventions refer to basic, foundational technologies or ideas that serve as the building blocks for further innovations and developments in a particular field.
A multi-year payment plan is a financial agreement where payments are spread out over multiple years, allowing for manageable installments rather than a lump-sum payment.
