McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce the arrival of Ian Schwartz as a partner in the Firm’s Corporate & Transactional Practice Group in the New York office.  Mr. Schwartz will be head of the Firm’s Investment Funds Practice with a focus on fund formation and a particular emphasis on the formation of private equity funds.

Mr. Schwartz comes from an AmLaw 100 firm where he counseled private fund clients in the structuring, establishment, and operation of their funds.  He also has experience advising funds and their investment advisers on the legal and regulatory compliance aspects of fund formation.

“Ian’s focus on private equity investment management will be a great asset to our clients as we look to bolster the fund formation offerings within our global platform,” said Harris Siskind, global head of McDermott’s Corporate & Transactional Practice.

Mr. Schwartz has counseled clients across various industries in an array of investment strategies including buyout, real estate, infrastructure, mezzanine debt, collateral debt obligation, co-investment, and region-specific in Western Europe, India, and Asia. As such, Mr. Schwartz has served as legal counsel in numerous multibillion-dollar and middle-market private investment fund-raisings for institutional and boutique sponsors in various industries around the world.

“We are thrilled to welcome yet another talented Corporate & Transactional lateral to the office,” said John T.
