Paul Chiappe, a Partner at London law firm Joelson, has taken part in an international trade visit to Spain with British ambassador Simon Manley.

Paul, a Spanish speaker, joined the delegation organised by London & Partners which included members of the UK’s Department for International Trade, the British embassy in Spain and the Chamber of Commerce in A Coruña.

The purpose of the trip, part of the ambassador’s Great Bus in Spain campaign, was to promote the UK as an excellent place to do businesses.

Paul joined the team in the city of A Coruña, the business centre of Galicia in northern Spain, where he gave a talk on inward investment to the UK alongside the British ambassador. This was followed by a lunch where he met with representatives from some of the region’s leading businesses.

Speaking after his visit, Paul said: “It was a real honour to be invited along on this trip by London & Partners and the British ambassador. Spain remains a vital trading partner to the UK and this relationship is important to a wide range of industries in both countries.

“The trip presented a great platform from which to share investment insights and legal strategies from an investor’s perspective. There were also a number of early stage businesses keen to obtain guidance on how to access the London venture scene.”

During his trip, Paul also visited an accelerator programme for start-ups called Zarpamos, where he shared his expertise on investment, venture capital and the international start-up community with peers.

“Spain has a booming start-up community so it was nice to strengthen our ties with businesses over there,” added Paul.
