After a successful legal career at several legal firms, including the Universal Legal Centre in London, lawyer, entrepreneur, and immigrant Md Lutfur Rahman has turned his focus towards helping like-minded immigrants build a new life in the UK. He is founder and CEO of the London-based WorkPermitCloud, which is an Legal and HR-tech company and is also a British Business Immigration firm in bringing skilled workers into the UK.
Rahman has made it his mission not only to help migrants navigate the challenging complexities of securing the necessary visas, permits, and paperwork to live and work abroad, but also to help UK immigrants build their businesses and access proper compliant HR-tech support, giving them the opportunity to contribute to the UK’s increasingly dynamic economy.
As a man whose journey began in Sylhet, Bangladesh before he moved to the UK in 1996 with no more than £3 in his pocket, Md Lutfur Rahman understands the sacrifices and hardships that many immigrants undergo as they leave behind their birthplaces in search of a better life. While pursuing his dream of becoming a lawyer, he spent countless days working shifts at his uncle’s restaurant, along with stints at other food industry-related jobs, such as working at Burger King and delivering food to customers. His path to wealth was not quick or easy; it took years of studying and practicing law to amass the resources and experience he needed to fulfill his goal of helping other migrants build wealth in the UK.
Inspired by his own experiences, Rahman sought to create a platform and infrastructure that would support immigrants as they pursued their own dreams. He was intimately familiar with the common struggles many immigrants faced, not only because he was once in their shoes, but also because he interacted with many of them during his time at the Universal Legal Centre, which he founded and led from 2003 to 2005. During this time period, he would help over 3,000 migrants integrate into the UK’s food industry, eventually earning recognition from the Home Office by having his firm designated as a panel office and representative body in the sector.
These experiences influenced the way Rahman has designed and led Work Permit Cloud’s operations since the company’s founding in 2020. WPC is not just a legal advisory, but a comprehensive platform that encompasses functions such as HR management, job recruitment services, accounting, and financial management. All of these services are under the purview of WPC’s associated subsidiaries: WPC Lawyers, WPC HR, WPC Jobs, WPC Accountants, and WPC Global. In addition, WPC has developed RightToWork, an app-based solution that automates Right to Work checks, which makes it effortless for businesses to hire immigrants without fear of fines from incorrect documentation. It is a win-win solution for both businesses and the immigrants looking for work that suits their skills.
All of these integrated components create a system that encourages migrants to pursue either work or entrepreneurship without the fear of facing a daunting and complex immigration system on their own. Through WPC and all of its subsidiaries, Rahman has helped over 20,000 immigrants use their skills to find success in their respective industries, while also helping over 10,000 businesses fulfill their staffing needs by choosing workers from the skilled immigrant talent pool. Through WPC Global, Rahman has also expanded WPC’s services worldwide.
While the journey to building wealth still takes hard work, skill, and determination, Md Lutfur Rahman has provided a support system that makes it easier for immigrants to pursue their dreams abroad. By eliminating bureaucratic hurdles while also removing the obstacles to securing work in the UK, Rahman’s work with WPC helps immigrants take the first step towards prospering financially. Furthermore, his advocacy for immigration rights ensures that the UK’s economy and skilled workforce is continually bolstered by the contributions of people like him who are willing to leave the only homes they have ever known in pursuit of a dream. Whether he is providing pro bono legal advice to his clients or helping small immigrant-owned businesses with their finances, Rahman continually remains dedicated to his mission.
