    Join the ranks of global insurers like Metropolitan Life, Sanlam, Old Mutual and AXA by building operations in West Africa. Insurance Penetration West Africa 2015 [IPWA 2015] summit aims to connect the global insurance world to West Africa.

    Supported by GIZ, Micro Insurance Network and BlueOrchard Finance SA,the IPWA 2015 will cover all aspects of tapping into the growing West African insurance market opportunities.

    IPWA 2015 in Dubai at the prestigious Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club, October 21-22 is a unique platform bringing together top insurance professionals, West African insurance regulators and business leaders to discuss emerging trends like Micro insurance, Takaful and Climate Insurance Fund to formulate the best strategies to increase current and future insurance penetration rates.

    Mr. Branko Wehnert, Project Manager Insurance and Micro-insurance, GIZ, will share his insights on covering 7.5 million risks and lives in Ghana through Micro insurance, and Mr. Gustaf Agartson, CEO, BIMAwill discuss developments in the use of mobile telecommunications as a cost effective distribution channel.

    Know more and explore the opportunities of Takaful in West Africa, with the presentation from the founder of the first Takaful organization in Gambia, Mr. Momodou Joof,COO, Phoenix AssuranceGroup and also find out how the Middle East model can be applied to West Africa from an esteemed panel of speakers including Dr. Hatim El-Tahir, FCIB, Director, Islamic Finance Group, Deloitte & Touche, and Mr. Mohammed Ali Londe, AVP – Analyst, Moody’s Investors Service Middle East Ltd.

    Mr. Maxime Bouan, Regional Manager – Middle East & Africa, BlueOrchard Finance SA, will be delivering a piece on how to access the Climate Insurance Fund dedicated to reducing the vulnerability of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) as well as low-income households to extreme weather events.

    The session, “Insights into the West African consumer”, willdelve into the demographic of the West African insurance market, and highlight strategies for developing a marketing plan and give delegates a head start in understanding the market.

    Doug Lacey, Partner at LeapFrog investments will provide an insight into investing using private equity funds, and award winning Lawyer Peter Petrou, Partner at Aspen Morris will provide a comprehensive guide on Doing business in West Africa.  According to Forbes.com, Peter Petrou “has advised several of the world’s largest corporations on doing business in Africa. Over the years, he has built formidable high level political and business contacts throughout Europe, US, Middle-East and Africa and is seen as the “go to person” when doing deals in Africa.”

    West African insurers will also be in attendance presenting thought provoking sessions on which business lines will drive growth, challenging the regulators to align their policies with the underlying philosophies of insurance businesses, andlooking at the key drivers to increasing penetration.
