MILAN, April 20 (Reuters) - UniCredit on Monday will outline "an approach to value creation" for Germany's Commerzbank, the Italian bank said as it believes the German lender is insufficiently prepared for future challenges and overly focused on short-term delivery.
UniCredit Chief Executive Andrea Orcel will hold a conference call at 0900 CET (0700 GMT) on Monday, it said in a statement.
The Italian lender "believes that Commerzbank should reposition to be future-ready by accelerating top line growth and focusing on investing and transforming," the statement added.
UniCredit sees "significant upside and risk reduction potential for Commerzbank beyond its current strategy to create additional value."
After building a near-30% stake in Commerzbank since September 2024 despite strong German opposition, UniCredit in March unveiled a 35 billion euro ($41 billion) all-share offer for Germany's second-biggest bank.
Commerzbank was not immediately available for comment.
