Businesses of all types and sizes within Leicester and Leicestershire need a strong professional services community to support them and the talent that resides in the region’s large number of professional and financial services firms will be highlighted at this year’s Leicester Business Festival.

BUSINESSES GET ADVICE ON PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AT THE LEICESTER BUSINESS FESTIVALCity and county business leaders going to the festival – which runs from 24 October to 4 November – will be able to tap into the expertise available and attend events run by Brewin Dolphin and KPMG that will cover such subjects as selling a company and automatically enrolling staff into pension schemes.

The headline event for the sector – ‘How To Sell Or Pass On Your Business’ – will offer insight into making successful business transfers and deal with funding issues as well as legal topics that need addressing. ‘Pensions Halloween’ will look at the liability ‘nightmare’ that is facing employers and trustees as they come to terms with auto-enrollment.

The Leicester Business Festival, which is expected to attract 12,500 visitors, will emphasise how the region is fortunate to contain a wide range of professional services companies, which means that many of them are able to offer specialist services and competition remains healthy. Around 60% of the sector’s revenue is generated outside Greater London with Leicester and Leicestershire accounting for roughly 29,000 jobs (6,800 of them in Leicester). Major businesses in the sector with a presence in the area include BDO, PwC, Grant Thornton, Newby Castleman, Mazars, PKF Cooper Parry, Shakespeare Martineau and Mattioli Woods.

Professional services are seeing an increase in demand due to expansion being back on the agenda and Brexit generating uncertainty among businesses, according to the professional and financial services sector lead at the festival, Scott Charlish, who is Divisional Director – East Midlands Financial Planning at Brewin Dolphin.

Scott says: “Recent developments have made Leicester and Leicestershire among the most exciting places to conduct business in the UK and I firmly believe that the financial and professional services communities are very well placed to play their part in the further development of the area.”

There are 118 events at the Leicester Business Festival and tickets for events in the professional and financial services sector are limited and selling fast. To book them go to the Leicester Business Festival website. Read the festival’s new page-turning brochure here.
