Taylor Wimpey lowers its profit forecast due to a £20 million charge from remediation works. The original contractor's financial difficulties led to this adjustment.
(Reuters) -UK homebuilder Taylor Wimpey cut its annual operating profit forecast on Wednesday citing a one-off 20 million pound ($26.69 million) charge stemming from remediation works at one of its London developments.
The original contractor, responsible for the defective work, ceased operations due to financial difficulties, the company said.
The firm now expects operating profit for 2025 to be 424 million pounds, compared to a prior forecast of 444 million pounds.
However, it reiterated expectations of UK completions guidance range of 10,400 to 10,800 for the full year.

A one-off charge is an expense that is not expected to recur in the future, often related to specific events or transactions, such as legal fees or asset write-downs.
Operating profit is the profit a company makes from its core business operations, excluding any income derived from non-operational activities like investments or sales of assets.
UK completions refer to the total number of residential properties that have been completed and are ready for occupancy within a specified time frame.
The London Stock Exchange is one of the largest stock exchanges in the world, where shares of publicly traded companies are bought and sold.
