Is Guest Blogging For You?
Guest Blogging is one of the most popular forms of Internet Marketing. There are many reasons for its popularity. The main reason is that it allows you to establish yourself as an authority on your chosen topic. If you post to blogs that have high page ranks, people will recognize you as an expert in your field. This results in credibility and allows you to build relationships with your target audience. You can also make some money through guest blogging as well.
A guest blogger is someone who contributes to another person’s blog as a guest. They do so without being listed as an author or owning the copyright to anything posted. The blog owner uses their permission or privilege to allow the guest to post on their site. In return, the guest will share with the owner whatever information they want to include and the owner includes it on their blog.
Guest blogging can be a very good way to establish your own name and brand. It allows you to become an expert on your subject or niche. If you can write interesting and informative posts, then the readers will want to visit your site to read more. They will come to trust you and your guest blogging. As a result, they will come to view your guest blogger status as an endorsement of you as an expert.
Another advantage to guest blogging is that it can help you grow your own list. If you already have a number of regular blog readers, adding a guest blogger can dramatically increase your readership. Many times when regular readers of a blog search for content on a particular topic, they do not see all the guest posts already there. By placing a guest blogger into the mix, the regular readers can be alerted to this fact and come to the blog to read about it.
One of the disadvantages to guest blogging is that sometimes the guest blogger cannot stick with the same niche. As their name is linked to your own name and they get attached to your site. So, if your niche is fishing and the guest blogger has a background in engineering, chances are the relationship won’t last very long. The other drawback to guest blogging is that, since the blogger’s name is all over your website, the information may get around, and a competitor could start guest posting on your blog.
So, do you want to use guest blogging to increase your own blog readership, build brand recognition, or both? Depending on how you plan to use the content, you will find it works very well for you. If you plan to place a guest blogger on your blog to give helpful and relevant information, it can be a great way to get free advertising. In fact, most people like to post a “thank you” note to their readers after reading their posts. Placing a blog post with a thank you note can generate plenty of free traffic for you.
However, guest blogging can also backfire. Because the guest is essentially sharing your expertise, you must ensure that your reader sees value in what you have to say. If you are a good writer and your guest blogger is not your guest post may end up as an article that is very similar to another article that your blog has already posted. Also, guest blogging exposes you and your business to potential spammers who are looking to steal your content for their own websites. It is important to make sure your guest blogger has a strong online presence.
Of course, guest blogging benefits your business in other ways as well. When you attract new customers through guest blogging, you establish credibility with other business owners in your niche. You also create a friendly environment where your guest blogger feels comfortable contributing to your blog. Finally, when you use a guest blogger with an online reputation, you can save yourself a lot of time and hassle as your relationship grows.
