How To Turn On Find My iPhone
“Find My iPhone” is an ultimate essential service provided by Apple Inc. for all the iCloud users. This feature is also explicitly known for other devices as Find My iPad, Find My iPod touch, or Find My Mac.
Let’s have a look at how to turn on this amazing feature on your iPhone.
Step 1: Unlock your iPhone.
Step 2: Open Settings on your phone. It is an icon of grey colour and will be on one of your home screens. If it’s not on the home screen, search for the “Utilities” folder and there you can find the settings option.
Step 3: Scroll down to “iCloud” option on the screen. You can find it on the fourth set of options.
Step 4: Open iCloud. Sign in to your Apple account. If you’ve already signed in to your Apple account, then skip this step. If you don’t have an account, then click on the button showing “Create Free Apple ID” and make your new Apple ID.
Step 5: After that, in iCloud, scroll down to “Find my iPhone”. Tap on the button to open it.
Step 6: After opening it, you’ll see a slide button allowing you to turn on or off the option. In our case, you have to slide it to turn on the option. Now your phone’s location service will be activated so that you can track and recover data from anywhere. If you’re not permitted to turn on the location service, a pop-up will come asking you to turn on the location service. Tap on the setting option provided on the notification. It will take you directly to the location service option. Now turn on the location service to complete the procedure.
When you set up this feature on iPhone, your paired Apple Watch and AirPods are set up automatically too. Now you can track and find if you lose these gadgets.
Facts about “Find my iPhone”:
The initial release of “Find my iPhone” occurred in June of 2010. It was available to the users of MobileMe as a paid app at first. Later in November of the same year, with iOS 4.2, “Find my iPhone” became free for the users. In the next year, i.e. in 2011, with the lunch of iCloud service, this feature came as a free service for all the iCloud users. This service was also made available for the Mac user of OS X 10.7.2 “Lion” or later using iCloud.
Exciting Features of “Find my iPhone”:
As we know earlier, the “Find my iPhone” service allows us to track our device from anywhere. It is a free service for all the iCloud users. You can use this service by using either the iOS app or icloud.com on a computer.
In addition to locating a device, this feature also gives us three more services.
No. 1 – Play The Sound:
This feature allows the user to play music on the device and in case the method is on mute they can make flashing on the screen. This feature can be advantageous in the case of mislaid.
No. 2 – Lost Mode:
This feature only supports on iOS 6 or later versions. Using this feature, you can flag the devices as stolen or lost. It also allows the user to lock the device with a passcode. If the invention is an iPhone or Apple watch and someone finds it, they contact the user with the information shown on the screen.
No.3 – Erase iPhone:
This feature is beneficial in case if the device contains any sensitive pieces of information. It allows the user to erase all the data from the device. But remember that after this process, the device cannot be tracked or located. This feature comes with only iOS 7 or later.
