Online shopping has evolved thanks to the latest technology which has grown very rapidly. The advent of smartphones, better logistics and seamless integration of payment gateways online have given a boom to the fashion industry and it has grown tremendously in the past few years. If you are looking to sell clothes online, it is the best time to do it, but before that make sure to do your homework.

Research on the market: Before you start selling clothes there is a need to do some research on where to sell and what the market looks like currently. There are numerous websites where you can sell your wares which includes craigslist, social media, consignment sites like Poshmark, The RealReal, and ThredUP and serves a different market.

Make your clothes look good: If you are looking to sell your old clothes then freshen it up before you put it for sale. Dry clean or wash it, remove any stains and press it before you upload pics of the clothes you are selling. Try to sell them in the best condition that you can manage. Pack the item by folding it neatly and see to it that there is no damage while shipping.

Upload high-quality pics: It helps to sell if the images that you upload is clear and is of high-quality. Switch on the lights, place it on a flat surface add a few extra lights if needed and take images from different angles. Ensure that there are no shadows and write a proper description of the clothing along with the images.

Mention the size: Mention all the things that the buyer needs to about the clothing like the colour, size, brand, fabric, condition and other such details. Also, it is best to be upfront and mention any defects as that will get you a better seller rating and a better reputation.

Setting the price: Conduct research on the price of the item before you sell on the internet. Sometimes when the item doesn’t sell, you may have to bring down the price. If you are not ready for that, you can remove the existing pics and upload new ones with a better description.

As mentioned earlier there are numerous websites available online where you can sell your clothes, some of the most popular ones are:

    • ThredUp: It is a place where you can buy and sell old clothes. You can also sell kid’s clothing and get some cash in return as they pay real money when you send clothes to them. Ensure to mention the condition and post images of the item before sending the actual article.
    • LikeTwice.com: This website only accepts branded clothing and does not take Walmart brand clothes. If you have prominent brand clothes and is in good condition, then you can make some money.
    • Tradesy.com: The motto of this website is to enable users to sell clothes painlessly. When you sell clothes on their site, you will have to pay them 9% commission, and the rest goes to your PayPal account.
    • The RealReal: This is a consignment website and works differently from other sites, but they claim to sell within 3 days of listing the product. You can earn 70% of the selling price if you sell your items here.

Before you sign up for any of the online resources, do due diligence and check for reviews and references from genuine people.
