Wizz Air expects its FY2026 net profit to take a €50 million (~$58 million) hit due to the ongoing Middle East conflict, as escalating regional instability disrupts airspace and raises operating costs.
March 4 (Reuters) - Wizz Air said on Wednesday the ongoing conflict in the Middle East is set to dent its net profit for fiscal year 2026 by about 50 million euros ($58.19 million), pushing the figure below the carrier's previously issued forecast.
The airline said roughly one-third of the impact stems from the suspension of several scheduled routes in the region, while the rest reflects weaker macroeconomic conditions triggered by the Iran conflict.
The company had on January 29 forecast an FY26 range spanning a loss of 25 million euros to a profit of 25 million euros.
Wizz, which plans to soon open a base in Israel, has halted flights to and from Israel, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Amman through March 7 after the U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran prompted retaliatory missile attacks across the region.
The industry struggling to absorb the escalating U.S. and Israeli air war against Iran has seen airlines and tourism operators rush to manage the fallout, as governments scramble to repatriate travellers after more than 20,000 flights were cancelled across the Middle East in recent days.
Wizz Air is scheduled to announce its FY26 results on June 11.
