Wizz Air flags $58 million hit to FY26 profit from Middle East unrest

Impact of Middle East Conflict on Wizz Air's Financial Outlook

    Projected Profit Reduction for FY26

March 4 (Reuters) - Wizz Air said on Wednesday the ongoing conflict in the Middle East is set to dent its net profit for fiscal year 2026 by about 50 million euros ($58.19 million), pushing the figure below the carrier's previously issued forecast.

    Breakdown of Financial Impact

The airline said roughly one-third of the impact stems from the suspension of several scheduled routes in the region, while the rest reflects weaker macroeconomic conditions triggered by the Iran conflict.

    Previous FY26 Forecast

The company had on January 29 forecast an FY26 range spanning a loss of 25 million euros to a profit of 25 million euros.

    Operational Adjustments and Industry Response

Suspension of Routes and New Base Plans

Wizz, which plans to soon open a base in Israel, has halted flights to and from Israel, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Amman through March 7 after the U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran prompted retaliatory missile attacks across the region.

    Wider Industry Impact

The industry struggling to absorb the escalating U.S. and Israeli air war against Iran has seen airlines and tourism operators rush to manage the fallout, as governments scramble to repatriate travellers after more than 20,000 flights were cancelled across the Middle East in recent days.

    Upcoming Announcements and Additional Information

    FY26 Results Announcement

Wizz Air is scheduled to announce its FY26 results on June 11.
