The Future of Logistics: Lucas Grizz’s Vision for a Tech-Driven Industry with Raven Cargo

    Lucas Grizz

In an era where technology propels transformation, the melding of sophisticated tech with business operations has become a preferred direction across industries. With its practically limitless power, advanced technology has certainly proven a remarkable ally in a number of sectors. None more so than in freight and logistics, where the interplay between automation and optimization has reached particularly intriguing levels.

Lucas Grizz, the founder of the freight brokerage firmRaven Cargo, recognized the potential of automation early in his career. As a youth who ventured into logistics straight out of college, he had a chance to observe its transformative power firsthand while working for REMPREX.

He reveals that the company had implemented automated gate solutions at the terminals, allowing truck drivers to enter and exit using camera technology.

“The shift from human labor-dependent terminals to automated ones reduced the processing time per truck from 20 minutes to just one minute,” Grizz reveals. Considering the fact their facilities handled around 10,000 trucks per day, this was a massive improvement.

It was a feat that not only impressed Grizz but also got him wondering: could this already streamlined system be further enhanced?

Inspired by the impact of his former employer’s automated processes, Grizz envisioned a future where advanced technology could be harnessed for even greater efficiency in the logistics sector. This vision led to the birth of Raven Cargo.

Since its inception in 2020,Raven Cargo has been at the forefront of innovation within its industry, and nothing showcases this better than the company’s proprietary solution—RavenEye.

A cutting-edge integration layer tailored for the logistics sector, RavenEye seamlessly connects disparate data systems to bridge software gaps, enhance operational efficiency, and provide accurate real-time insights. This capability is particularly significant in an industry where data is often scattered across various platforms and systems.

“By ensuring a cohesive flow of information across platforms, Raveneye not only eliminates redundancy and inconsistencies but also significantly improves visibility and document exchange,” Grizz explains. “This tool is indispensable for businesses aiming to streamline their logistics operations and achieve a unified, transparent view of their data processes.”

In an industry often plagued by unethical practices such as shipment consolidation and double brokering, RavenEye’s capacity to maintain transparency is critical.

As Grizz explains, shipment consolidation, where multiple shipments are loaded on one truck, and double brokering, where a broker subcontracts to another, create a cumbersome list of intermediaries, which is fertile soil for manipulation to the detriment of carriers.

“These practices are most apparent in dedicated freight. They not only reduce transparency but also increase costs and cause potential delays, which results in diminished customer satisfaction and trust,” he says.

The issue is further compounded by the fact that an increasing number of companies are outsourcing their operations to countries like Colombia, where multiple personnel handle documents such as invoices, account statements, and carrier information, putting data safety at risk.

“With our tool, people in the industry don’t have to worry about these technicalities. They can focus on their ventures while feeling confident their data is secure, and their processes are transparent,” Grizz adds.

The economic implications of such technological integration are far-reaching. By automating traditionally labor-intensive processes,Raven Cargo has achieved significant cost reductions, increasing profitability along the way.

On top of that, owing to its sophisticated architecture, RavenEye shows potential in enhancing decision-making and transforming the way businesses generally operate in the freight industry.

As we move forward into the digital age, the critical role of technology in the success of modern businesses becomes more and more apparent. Still, Grizz emphasizes it shouldn’t be used for short-term gains but rather leveraged to drive long-term change and set new standards.

As he says, “When harnessed correctly, technology doesn’t just change how we do business—it changes what’s possible.”
